Japanese Oji Paper Trade Union Supports Chinese Protest Against Oji's Pipeline Project in China
On July 28, 2012, protesters in Qidong city had violent clashes with the police over fears of pollution from a paper factory. Local officials announced that a waste water pipeline project from the paper mill, which belongs to Japanese company Oji Paper, would be “permanently cancelled.”

Contemporary capitalism, driven by the competitive pursuit of private profit, tends to produce a stream of innovative goods and services. Of course this drive for private profit generally ensures that these goods and services will be the ones that are most likely to satisfy the desires of those with the greatest purchasing power. After a three days strike, Murata Power Guangzhou workers go back to work
More than 400 workers in a Japanese Company, the Guangzhou Murata Power Solutions Limited, which located in the Guangzhou Luoguang Industrial Zone, went on strike on June 14 last Friday and last until this morning. According interviews we make with workers, more than 400 workers went on strike because of dissatisfied wages and harsh management. They listed 25 demands to the management which includes raising basic wage to 1800 yuen, firing certain management officers, increase subsidiaries and so on.

Workers protest against “redeployment” and demand reelection of the union
Yesterday, October 14, about three hundred “redeployed” BYD’s sales workers protested against BYD at the front gate of its plant in Pingshan, Shenzen. The protest was soon stopped by the company security (Please refer to the picture below). BYD, the Chinese battery and auto maker backed by billionaire Warren Buffett, started to restructure its sales department and “redeploy” its employees to other departments or stop their duties in September this year.
