Editor's note: This is a report on a Chinese labor activist's visit to two labor organizations in Koln, Germany.They were Friends of Nature and Unemployed in Action. The former organization has 115 years of history and its mission is to provide a place for cultural activities for workers. It also provides accommodation and free meals to workers. The latter organization is committed to helping the unemployed to get unemployment benefits without losing their self respect, by organizing collective actions. The Chinese author was particularly interested to hear the German workers say that it is the German and Chinese ruling classes which are interested in competing with each other, while the working class in both countries would not benefit from this.
