May Day Rally March: For Livelihood; Oppose Exploitation; Fight Tsunami!

Dear Friends,

May Day Rally March: For Livelihood; Oppose Exploitation; Fight Tsunami!

All workers are affected by the prevailing economic tsunami. On the May Day, we must gather our voices together for our collective demands.

Corporates have been trying to shift all woes onto workers. The government is only concerned with rescuing the “market”. The workers’ situation is thus being aggravated. This is high time we turn the tide of despair!

On the May Day this year, the HKCTU will be organizing a Rally March with the theme : “For Livelihood, Oppose Exploitation, Fight Tsunami!” At the same time, we invite you and members of your organizations to join the Rally March carrying your own props and banners to inform demands from various sectors in our society.

Details of the Rally March are as follows. For enquiry, please contact Chan Chiu Wai or Mung Siu Tat at 2770 8668.

Date & Time: May 1, 2009 (Friday; 2:30pm)

Venue: Football Pitch No. 1, Victoria Park, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Themes: For Collective Bargaining, Unemployment Benefits, Jobs, Worker Transport Subsidy; Minimum Wage Legislation, Working Hours Regulation.

We look forward to seeing you at the May Day Rally March!

In Solidarity,
Cheng Ching Fat, Chairperson, HKCTU
