Public Servant Union Supports Teacher’s
Defence of Freedom of Speech
This is a statement released by the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department Staff Rights Union in support of Ms Lam, a teacher who openly supported people from the Falungong’s right to free speech and who was ferociously attacked by the pro-Beijing camp because of this. The pro-Beijing camp was joined by some police. They made use of the fact that Ms Lam, when accusing the police of inaction when the pro-Beijing camp stopped the Falungong from campaigning in the street, became emotional and used the ‘fxxk’ word. The pan democrat camp staged a counter demonstration yesterday in support of Ms Lam. This union is the only trade union which has openly support Ms Lam.
