Collective bargain wins another pay increase of 611 RMB for Nanhai Honda workers who went on strike last year

Editor notes: This Chinese article reports on the collective bargaining process at Honda Auto Parts Manufacturing Co Ltd in Foshan city of Guandong province.  Collective bargaining between the workers and their employers has now won the workers another pay increase. One worker says that although the result of the wage bargaining was far less than expected, she was fairly satisfied with the result. According to the article, 85 level I workers will be promoted to level II, which means that their wages will be raised by RMB 611. Strikes halted production last year, forcing about the re-organisation of the trade union. It has been difficult to check if this re-organisation proceeded democratically though because of heavy censorship and restrictions on workers approaching reporters. There have been unconfirmed reports that the central figures of the strike were not elected to this new workplace union. The article is available in Chinese only.
